Meet Patch looking for rescue NOW SAFE
PATCH SBT entire male, approx 2 years old. Patch appears to have had a hard life - he is hand shy and despite having been at the pound for several weeks, is still rather nervous and afraid. Ending up in the pound seems the final insult, he is so unhappy there. Patch is a little more confident with woman, but is still reluctant to approach male kennel staff, who he will warn off if they get too close. Poor Patch spends much of his time at back of the kennel/run where noone can hurt him. Patch will not be dog tested as he's too distressed for any test to be meaningful. Will have a first vaccination.
Patch is seeking a space with established, reputable rescue which:
Is non-destruct (unless on the advice of a veterinary surgeon)
Vaccinate, microchip and neuter all dogs prior to rehoming (unless a vet advises against it)
Conduct a home visit for all foster/forever homes before releasing the dog
Offer LIFETIME rescue back up to the dog - the dog must be able to come back to the rescue at any time.
Fully assess all dogs in a safe, controlled environment before introducing them to members of the public. This is either in kennels or in a very experienced, child free, cat free foster home able to separate the incoming dog from existing dogs whilst it is assessed.
Ensure no pound dogs are placed straight into homes with young children. Dogs must be assessed for their suitability for young families before coming into contact with under 10s.
